Why Starting Over Is Never Starting from Scratch

It’s been a minute, hasn’t it? Okay, more like several months, but who’s counting? Let me catch you up. Since I last posted, life has been...well, a lot. I’ve been navigating the beautiful chaos of having two kids under three (one of them a new baby who thinks sleep is optional), the heartache of losing four close friends (three of them to cancer), and the general overwhelm that comes with trying to keep it all together. Spoiler alert: I haven’t always kept it together. And that’s okay.

When life feels like it’s been flipped upside down, it’s tempting to think we’re starting from scratch. But here’s the thing: you’re not. Every experience—the good, the bad, and the ugly—adds to who you are. Even when it feels like you’re stuck or moving backward, you’re still growing. Trust me, I’ve had plenty of moments where I felt like I was treading water, but those moments taught me resilience, patience (okay, still working on that one), and the importance of asking for help.

So if you’re feeling like life’s a mess right now, take a deep breath. You’re not starting over from zero. You’re starting again with all the strength, lessons, and wisdom you’ve gained along the way. And that, my friends, is a pretty solid foundation.

This month, we’re diving into fresh starts, baby steps, and giving ourselves grace. Let’s make this the year we embrace the messy, beautiful process of starting again—no matter where we’re at.
